Leadership
I had average leadership skills. I was able to successfully lead my army without any casualties when facing Native Americans. Every single soldier who had come with me returned safely although no gold or riches were found. Negatives in my leadership are being quick to anger, quick to give up, foolish belief of myths, and carelessness. Quick anger happens due to my failure at finding gold. I randomly killed Indians because of my frustration and used to harass them in any way possible. I give up very easily just because someone else wasn't able to figure it out. For example, I just didn't care about climbing the Grand Canyon when my scouts weren't able to find a route. If I would have gone through the trouble, I would have found golden California. My foolish belief of myths also influence my decisions. If I were to have not fallen for Turk's trick, I would've more time and energy to survey the land, helping me approximate where natural gold would be located. My carelessness is the res
Organization
I had very good organization skills. First of all, I made some soldiers document every day of the trip, recording what we saw and what we did. I laid out detailed sketches of our travels. I would make sure that every day, all the men would document all the livestock taken on the mission, including Native Americans and slaves. There was one flaw in my organization; I would let too many people influence the way I would choose my directions. For example, I let Turk take advantage of me by going through groups of Indians that exhausted our supplies.
Planning
I usually wasn't very planned. My planning relied on the maps and sketches that I drew to lead me towards my destinations. I also took the advice of my scouts for moving forward. Unfortunately, my scouts were ineffective in helping find gold. Even today, it seems that Cibola was located somewhere else. Turk was a traitor who just wanted to keep us away from his village. I wasn't aware of neighboring tribes located in the area, so I was unprepared for battle. The only reason that we won every battle was because we were equipped with better defense and armor.
Personality
I had a very evil personality. I was quick to anger. I would kill thousands of Native Americans whenever they wouldn't tell me the location of gold. I decimated entire villages to a few huts. I am very easily frustrated when face with a challenge I can't cross immediately. I start to lose control eventually give up with great disappoint. I'm really influenced by the stories of the gold mainly because of the discovery of gold in Mexico City when it was ruled by the Aztecs.
Intelligence
I had a very poor intelligence level. I had no knowledge about New Spain at all. I never really studied geography making me poor at evaluating the land around me. I was having a hard time even understanding what my scouts were telling me. The maps I made were very inaccurate and were proved to be mostly false. Although I was sent to school by my parents, I wasn't educated as an expert in military leadership or geography.
Decision Making
I had very good instincts and average judgment capabilities. This was the quality that probably saved me from death. I always knew when to attack and when to run away. My instincts were the basically the saviors of my army. There are cases where my judgment capabilities make my instincts seem like a bad idea. For example, I had a feeling that Turk seemed to lead us into a trap when taking us through all of the Indian tribes. I should've acted then and killed Turk, but I hesitated resulting in the downfall of my expedition.
Encounters and exchange during the expedition
I had met different Native American tribes, but I didn't let their culture influence us Spaniards. I was very ruthful, killing almost every single one at mere sight. I always interrogated them for the location of gold and tortured them, but during the torture, they used to die. This ruthless torture created spaces between me and the Indians, allowing no exchange of knowledge or culture. I used to keep all my soldiers together and away from the Indians to try to avoid any contact. If any of soldiers were to interact with Indians alone, they would become suspected of treason.
Significance In History
I was very significant in history. I may not have found gold, but I contributed to a lot of the geography involved with the Southwest. I discovered great natural wonders such as Llano Estacado, Palo Duro Canyon, and Grand Canyon. I discovered many different Native American groups that now exist in very small numbers. I made contact with new species and wildlife. I introduced horses to North America and helped Indians develop a new way to hunt.
